Questions
Where do the voices come from?
From your operating system and browser. macOS, iOS, Windows and Android each include different natural-sounding voices — some can be added in system settings.
Can I download an MP3?
Browsers do not allow recording built-in speech directly. Use your system’s screen or audio recorder if you need a file.
Is my text sent anywhere?
Local voices run on-device. Some browsers offer “online” voices (labelled by the browser) that use the vendor’s service.
